Aspirin Patient Views

Experiences

  • Patients appreciate aspirin's ability to reduce inflammation and improve symptoms like fatigue, headaches, and brain fog.
  • Many report significant relief from cardiac symptoms, including palpitations and chest tightness.
  • Aspirin is often praised for its role in addressing microclots, a suspected cause of Long Covid symptoms.
  • Some patients find aspirin improves their quality of life, even if it doesn't fully resolve their condition.

Challenges

  • Long-term use of aspirin raises concerns about potential side effects like stomach issues or ulcers.
  • High doses of aspirin can lead to nausea or exacerbate conditions like asthma.
  • Some patients feel aspirin alone isn't enough to address severe symptoms or microclots.
  • Risks of bleeding and other complications make aspirin therapy potentially dangerous without medical supervision.

Tips

  • Consult a doctor before starting aspirin therapy, especially for high doses.
  • Pair aspirin with a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) to protect the stomach from ulcers.
  • Start with low doses and gradually adjust to find the minimum effective amount.
  • Monitor for side effects like nausea or asthma flare-ups and adjust treatment accordingly.

Reported effectiveness
The average perceived effectiveness of the treatment amongst the patient views found for this page.

To calculate the reported effectiveness for a patient view, the model first analyses whether it can be ascertained that the person writing the review has had direct experience of the treatment for themselves or a loved one. If so, it then uses sentiment analysis to rate their view from 1-5 on how effective this treatment was for them, with 1 being the least effective, and 5 the most effective.

I was taking aspirin for a bit and it definitely helped but don’t want to take it long term.

Also taking a baby aspirin 81mg morning after eating and before bed and it doesn’t solve everything but makes me anywhere from 30%-80% better depending on the day. I know it’s not great to take long term and will be talking to my doctor soon about other anti-inflammatories that could be a possibility, but for now the reward is worth the risk to me.

I took natto with aspirin. May or may not have any improvement too small to notice

I've taken numerous medications, the top ones are antihistamines for potential MCAS and aspirin with a PPI for potential blood flow and blood clotting issues. Aspirin may very well help with the cerebral blood flow issue. My cardiologist said my blood viscosity was likely very high because I could feel it flowing through my veins.

Aspirin helped me with migraine a crap ton, and helped with most my other symptoms as well. It wasn't a fix, but it's a massive quality of life improvement.

I take 20mg loratadine, 20mg cetirizine, and 360mg Allegra each day, along with 3 baby aspirin (243mg?) and 20mg omeprazole.

Some people get better, but they are usually in the 6months-1 year point. The longer you have it the less likely you'll see any short term or long term improvement. I got worse over a period of 2-3 years then plateaued mostly.

I love this so much for you! I had tried 325mg aspirin daily along with things like nattokinase, omega 3, NAC, and more things than I care to list right now, but the high dose aspirin is the only thing that made a huge difference for me. Obviously not best to keep taking high dose long term, but it definitely points to the main cause of my symptom. Good luck, my companion!

Ibuprofen I felt like I'd just pay for later. Similar to Benedryl in that I'd feel slight better now and slightly worse later. I also read ibuprofen might not be good for some of the theoried reasons of LC.

Baby Aspirin was helpful, I think.

I improved palpitations (and other cardiac issues) and fatigue (to some extent) with aspirin therapy. I personally use 81mg x3 aspirin and take Omeprazole as well.

I felt my blood circulating through my veins at one point. I expect it was probably due to microclots and endothelial dysfunction, two things being found common with long covid sufferers (though there's plenty more).

I also use daily antihistamines Allegra, Zyrtec, and Claritin for any MCAS component.

They all seem to help, but aspirin was far more useful for my cardiac symptoms. Though I didn't have the flushing you're describing, so not sure if it would help or not. But it sounds like it's inflammatory and a short stint of aspirin might help with inflammation to see if you improve, as long as you don't have an allergy to it.

I have to take aspirin most days as it’s the only thing that makes the headaches clear. Paracetamol and ibuprofen don’t work for me.

Taking aspirin makes it go away pretty quickly for me.

I second the notion to consult a doctor going forward, BUT when I had pericarditis a while ago, I was prescribed high doses of Aspirin for about 4 weeks and while it might be completely coincidental, I came out of this whole thing with a much better baseline than I went in.
