Reported effectiveness
The average perceived effectiveness of the treatment amongst the patient views found for this page.

To calculate the reported effectiveness for a patient view, the model first analyses whether it can be ascertained that the person writing the review has had direct experience of the treatment for themselves or a loved one. If so, it then uses sentiment analysis to rate their view from 1-5 on how effective this treatment was for them, with 1 being the least effective, and 5 the most effective.

I did Buteyko/OA breathing for 4 months before starting Wim Hof and would recommend that to anyone who is severe. You need a bit of energy to do this. But now I started and like it. I just started 1-2 weeks ago, but I already notice that I sleep better (I do it in the evening before going to bed, followed by short meditation and yoga).

I used to and now it’s so much better after having done breathwork for months. You might want to check out there videos on Long COVID by the Buteyko institute, the Oxygen Advantage app (free) or the Stasis program (not free).

I used Heart Math when my symptoms were profound. I found it helped me as well. As I’ve gotten better, I haven’t used it for a while. It’s nice knowing that I can always do some breath work if I’m tense or feeling fatigued.

Regular breath-work has really helped me to calm my nervous system and have more clarity around my symptoms or how I’m feeling. I’ve also used breathwork as something to do after exerting myself, to ensure I’m back in a relaxed state after exertion. There are breathwork classes online, free or for a fee, so it’s really easy to access. Most of the breath-work that I’ve been recommend has been around relaxed breathing and extending your exhale (comfortably). I do breath-work classes with a community of people experiencing ME or Long Covid (360 Mindbodysoul) so it is tailed to those conditions, which is awesome.

Highly recommend this or similar practices for anyone with LC and/or ME.

Greatly aided myself in calming sympathetic overdrive and re-syncing my scrambled autonomic nervous system. There are many forms of breathwork which would likely be beneficial. I used the Inner Balance device from Heart Math, which has the added benefit of measuring my heart rate variability in real time as I do the breathing practice. Doing this for 15 minutes or even up to an hour when I feel my nervous system getting out of whack (which manifests as headache and PEM) can forestall the crash entirely.

I’ve been practicing this for about 2 months and find the conscious breathing into my diaphragm helping with shortness of breath and less build up of acidity and co2 in my body. My body still struggles when it’s in autopilot, but once I notice that I’m struggling I can practice it consciously to help bring me back to it.

Vagus nerve exercises have been really helpful, as has breathwork.

Meditation and breath work really help me. If I'm consistent with it I notice a huge difference.

Hi my friend, I wanted to give you an update on how my recovery is going. I focused heavily on meditating and doing breathing and relaxation exercises, and it has helped a ton! I’m actually feeling like I am getting to a stable baseline for the first time in months. That weird hollow/weak sensation in my chest that has persistently bothered me has started to let up. I feel more “oxygenated” almost. It’s good! Thanks for your guidance to focus on restorative activities!

I use the visible armband too and it’s been a game changer for myself. I also got sleeping tablets from my GP which has helped me come out of fight or flight mode (which I was in Just about all day) and more into rest and repair. I’ve also found an excellent f2f breathing/meditation class which has massively helped ease my ’gasping’ and pausing for breath whilst talking.
